FAQs
Emergency Dentistry FAQs
Can I just turn up for an emergency appointment?
Please don’t just turn up. To make sure we can deal with emergencies promptly, patients are seen strictly by prearranged appointment - call us first and we’ll arrange a time.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency out of hours?
Call our 24/7 emergency line on 07748 341 374, or call 01902 675 801 and press 1. You can also book an emergency appointment online through our partner Emerdency. Out-of-hours fees apply. NHS patients can also call NHS 111 for assessment and advice.
I’m not registered with Highview - can you still help?
Yes. During opening hours call 01902 675 801; out of hours call 07748 341 374. We’ll do our best to help, and our fees for non-registered patients are shown on this page.
How much does an emergency appointment cost?
An NHS urgent course of treatment costs £27.90. Private emergency assessment appointments are shown in the fees section above, and Denplan members have emergency assessments included in their plan.
What should I do if I knock a tooth out?
Hold the tooth by the crown (the white part), not the root. If it’s an adult tooth and it’s clean, try to put it back in the socket; otherwise keep it in milk or saliva. Call us straight away - the sooner you’re seen, the better the chance of saving it. Don’t put a baby tooth back in.
When should I go to A&E instead?
Go to A&E or call 999 if you have swelling that is affecting your eye or neck, difficulty breathing, swallowing or speaking, heavy bleeding that won’t stop, or a serious injury to your face, mouth or teeth.
